Miyo’s Harbison :: Upscale and Delightful

Being invited to lunch at any Miyo’s location is a treat… but being invited to lunch at Miyo’s on Bower Parkway turned out to be truly an honor. What an absolutely wonderful experience, dining in the casual but classy large dining room, and feasting on some of the most wonderful, fresh Asian food in the South!

If you are a fan of Miyo’s already, you know what I am about to say and the pictures I show you below cannot truly express the delicious beautiful nature of their food. Their chefs are truly masters. I was honored to be introduced to both their Szechuan chef, WC Wang and their Sushi chef, Alan Wong. Mr. Wang is a classically-trained Szechuan chef, and has a mastery of the dishes from this central area of China. Characteristics of Szechuan cuisine are bold flavors that come from the liberal use of garlic and chili peppers, including the unique flavor of Szechuan pepper. This part of China is internationally recognized for its sophisticated cooking. And to think we have a classically-trained Szechuan chef here in Columbia!

Even a simple side of rice is served with flair

There is no place in Greater Columbia that serves finer sushi than the restaurants in the Miyo’s group (including M Kitchen and M Vista). I am super picky when it comes to sushi and sashimi (as anyone should be) and these restaurants are my favorites. Miyo’s Harbison was equally impressive – Mr. Wong really knows his way with a sushi knife. The creative foods were truly works of art. You hate to eat them, kind of like biting off the head of the chocolate Easter bunny in your basket… but somehow you get beyond the beauty and start devouring. HEAVEN on Earth, it is, my friends.

Miyo’s Harbison opened in 2003, and it was a big step for Michelle Wang.
Immediately, it became her most successful establishment. A much larger space than her first restaurants, this one seats up to 150 guests and has a huge kitchen. The restaurant offers outdoor seating as well… so nice in Spring and Fall. In 2006, the sushi bar was added. Miyo’s Harbison is a work in progress… the interior has been completely renovated.

The entire facility can be reserved for private dinners and events. There is ample parking, as it is located in Columbiana Station shopping center.

Miyo’s Harbison offers a full bar with happy hour

Beyond serving magnificent food, guests also love that it is located just steps from the Regal Cinemas Columbiana Grande 14. Perfect for Date Night – dinner and a movie.
