The creative team at Tombo Grille in Forest Acres comes up with new ideas for pleasing the palate OFTEN. So when you venture through their doors, you’re usually in for a brand-new experience. Based on the season and the availability of local, fresh ingredients, the chef and head barkeep come up with entrees, accompaniments and cocktails definitely worth a try. They are introducing their new Summer Cocktail Menu this week, and I got to taste-test and take pics of three of the offerings.
Spicy Watermelon Margarita
This margarita provides a little kick with its Jalapeno-Infused Lunazul Tequila. Not too much, but enough that you can taste the heat, which goes with the salted rim like tortilla chips and salsa! Watermelon syrup gives it a different fruity flavor and the fresh lime is so much better than the bar lemon you get at most places.
The first taste is refreshingly minty, provided by muddled mint (mint leaves rubbed on the rim of the glass) and the fresh mint garnish is aromatic and lovely to look at, as are the fresh blueberries. Bacardi Silver Rum, blueberry syrup, lime juice and soda are the ingredients in this A-1 thirst quencher.
Spicy Peach Bourbon Smash
This smash-up of wonderful flavors come from a combination of Larceny Bourbon, peach puree, ginger syrup, and muddled jalapeno. Who doesn’t love a fresh peach chunk and jalapeno slice floating in their summer cocktail? WOW
The summer cocktail menu includes Smokey Paloma with a splash of fresh grapefruit, Boulevardier for the sophisticated palate, The Rosie made with rosemary simple syrup, a Blood Orange Manhattan (may I have the cherry?), a Summer Mule, Watermelon Sangria, GF Crush (Grape Fruit) and lastly the Down ‘n Dirty (a vodka martini with blue cheese olives!).
Get to Tombo Grille this summer! Happy Hour is everyday until 6:30 with $6 select small bites… perfectly pair with summer cocktails!
