Palmano’s Pizzeria & Restaurant will open in front of KJ’s Market on Highway 1, just down from The Barnyard Flea Market in Lexington. With an opening date TBA, they are currently renovating the building. Palmano’s will serve pizza, pasta, salads, subs and more, and will offer delivery, catering, take out and a family friendly environment. The City of West Columbia announced that a new brewery, taproom, and beer garden, Savage Craft Ale Works, will open in Spring of 2019 in West Columbia’s River District Area. The brewery will be housed in the historic former Brookland Fire Station/City Hall building, built in 1925. Currently, there is an effort underway to revitalize the State Street and Meeting Street communities and attract creative, community-minded businesses, and Savage Craft is a nice step in that direction. A brand new restaurant in a brand new development! Local restaurateur Kristian Niemi, of Bourbon on Main Street and many other Columbia culinary ventures, will open Black Rooster in early 2019, in the Brookland SC development in West Columbia. Steel Hands Brewery is slated to open this fall in Cayce. It will be the largest brewery in the Midlands, a boon to the local area and Arts District, and a welcome addition to the Columbia area’s growing craft beer scene! The brewery has already reached out to the community, requesting artwork for their Steel Hands Brewing Artist Competition and for display in the completed brewery.
